The Orthopaedic Centre was founded by Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt as the continuation and expansion of his existing orthopaedic sports medicine practice, which has been successful for more than 30 years. The Orthopaedic Centre was opened in May 2008 in the Alten Hof in the Munich city centre. One of the oldest places, located directly in the heart of Munich, was chosen. Excavations have shown that there was a castle construction on the present-day site even in the 12th century. Following the first division of territories in 1255, the "Alte Hof" (in the past also known as "Alte Veste") was made the residence of Duke Ludwig II. His son, Ludwig of Bavaria, made the building the first permanent imperial residence in Germany. The imperial regalia were stored in the Lorenzi chapel on the northern side, which was pulled down in the 19th century. The "Alte Hof" was the ruling residence of the Wittelsbachers from the 13th to the 15th century. Over the course of history, it became the headquarters of the Retirement Office and of various tax authorities. It was largely destroyed in the Second World War, but was rebuilt in 1950, however, with basic materials. | ![]()
